SHERIFF'S OFFICE INCIDENT BRIEFINGS - JULY 24TH, 2018


During the week of July 16 – July 22, deputies of the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office responded to 1,279 calls for service throughout the community.

Damaged Property: 18-38581
On July 19, 2018 Dfc. Rediker responded to Camp Kaufmann Road, Huntingtown for the report of a burglary. The victim advised she noticed damage to her back door’s frame and lock, however, nothing was missing from her home. The value of the damaged property is $1,200

Damaged Property: 18-38775
On July 20, 2018 Deputy Flynt responded to Ridge View Drive, Owings for the report of damaged property. The victim advised the driver’s side rear window had been broken out of her vehicle.

Trespassing: 18-37939
On July 16, 2018 Deputy Spalding responded to McCready Road, Lusby for the report of damaged property. The complainant advised sometime between July 15th at 6:00 PM and July 16th at 9:00 AM an unknown suspect got on his boat and urinated in the toilet in the cabin.

Theft: 18-37918
On July 16, 2018 Deputy Spalding responded to Coster Road, Lusby for the report of a theft. The victim advised sometime between July 15th at 7:00 PM and July 16th at 6:00 AM an unknown suspect(s) broke into his vehicle and stole protein bars and candy from the center console. The value of the stolen items is approximately $25.

On July 16, 2018 Deputy Bowlan responded to Pat Lane, Huntingtown for the report of a theft. The complainant advised three bicycles were stolen from her residence between 9:30 AM and 3:30 PM.

On July 17, 2018 Dfc. Cress responded to Sea Gull Court, North Beach for the report of a vehicle theft. The victim advised sometime between July 16th at 3:00 PM and July 17th at 9:20 AM an unknown suspect(s) stole her Toyota Camry that was parked in front of her residence.

Theft: 18-38219
On July 17, 2018 Corporal Woodford responded to Golden Russet Drive, Dunkirk for the report of a theft. The complainant advised sometime between July 14th and July 16th the rear tag was stolen off of his vehicle. The value of the stolen property is $75.

On July 19, 2018 Dfc. Ostazeski responded to Corral Drive, Lusby for the report of a theft. The victim advised sometime between 5:30 AM and 9:30 PM an unknown suspect(s) stole three silver bars from his vehicle. The value of the stolen property is $500.

Theft: 18-38559
On July 19, 2018 Deputy Crum responded to Ward Road, Dunkirk for the report of a theft. The complainants advised sometime between July 18th at 6:30 PM and July 19th at 9:15 AM an unknown suspect(s) stole their riding lawnmower out of their yard.

Theft: 18-39030
On July 21, 2018 Deputy N. Buckler responded to B Street, Chesapeake Beach for the report of a theft. The victim advised sometime between 12:00 PM and 9:30 PM an unknown suspect(s) stole a tool box that was not for sale during an estate sale at his home. The value of the stolen property is approximately $500.

On July 21, 2018 Deputy N. Buckler responded to Harbor Road, Chesapeake Beach for the report of a theft. The complainants advised two bushels of crabs were stolen from a walk in refrigerator. The value of the stolen crabs is $230.

Theft: 18-39110
On July 22, 2018 Deputy Yates responded to the Giant in Lusby for the report of a theft. The complainant advised sometime between 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM his wallet was stolen from the break room. The value of the stolen property is $30.

ARRESTS:

On July 16, 2018 Dfc. Y. Bortchevsky responded to B Street, Chesapeake Beach for the report of a disorderly subject. The suspect, Ian Nichols Dyer (18), was intoxicated and was attempting to fight others in the residence. Dfc. Bortchevsky transported Dyer to a friend’s house to spend the night until he sobered up. Approximately 30 minutes later Dyer’s sister called 911 because he returned to the residence where he continued his disorderly and threatening behavior. Dyer was placed under arrest and transported to the Calvert County Detention Center where he was charged with Disorderly Conduct and Trespassing.

On July 17, 2018 Dfc. Trigg conducted a traffic stop on Route 4 in the area of Chaneyville Road, Owings. While the driver, Tiffany Herring (32), searched through her purse, Dfc. Trigg noticed a hypodermic syringe sticking out of an inside pocket. A search of her purse revealed CDS and paraphernalia. Emergency Communications advised Dfc. Trigg that Herring had multiple warrants through Calvert and Anne Arundel County. Herring was transported to the Calvert County Detention Center and charged with CDS: Possession-Not Marijuana, CDS: Administer Equipment-Possession/Distribute, Person driving motor vehicle on highway on suspended license and privilege, Driving vehicle on highway at speed exceeding speed limit by 20 to 29 MPH, Failure of individual driving on highway to display license to uniformed police on demand, and Failure to transport child under age 16 in child safety seat.

On July 18, 2018 Deputy Lewis conducted a traffic stop on Route 4 in the area of Tractor Supply in Huntingtown. Emergency Communications advised Deputy Lewis that the driver had an active protective order against the passenger, Justin Kyle Kerr (34). Kerr was placed under arrest for violating the protective order and transported to the Calvert County Detention Center.

On July 18, 2018 Cpl. Denton conducted a traffic stop on Chesapeake Ave, North Beach. Cpl. Denton made contact with the driver, Nicholas Presson Kaine (38), when he detected a strong odor of raw marijuana emitting from the vehicle. A search of the vehicle revealed CDS, paraphernalia, cash and a cell phone. Kaine was transported to the Calvert County Detention Center and charged with CDS: Possession-Not Marijuana and CDS: Possession of Paraphernalia.

On July 18, 2018 Deputy Lorenzano responded to Juniper Lane, Huntingtown for the report of an assault. The suspect, Theresa Lyn Schneider (54), entered the residence through the back door without permission, assaulted the complainant and damaged property inside the residence. The entire time the officers were on scene Schneider was yelling, verbally aggressive and uncooperative. She was placed under arrest and transported to the Calvert County Detention Center where she was charged with First Degree Burglary and Second Degree Assault.

On July 18, 2018 Dfc. O’Donnell responded to Lake View Drive, Lusby for the report of a house alarm. Upon his arrival he heard sticks and branches breaking behind the residence as if someone was running into the woods. He also noticed damage to the back screen door and a security camera on the ground that had been taken down off the house. Dfc. O’Donnell observed a male, later identified as Robert Baldwin (36), who initially followed commands, but then stood up and ran away towards the water. Baldwin jumped in Lake Charming and swam away from the officers. Dfc. R. Evans, Dfc. Ostazeski, Trooper McCombs and Trooper Palumbo entered the water and were able to get Baldwin into custody. Baldwin was placed under arrest and transported to the Calvert County Detention Center where he was charged with First Degree Burglary, Third Degree Burglary, Fourth Degree Burglary, Assault: Second Degree, Resisting Arrest and Failure to Obey Reasonable/Lawful Order of Law Enforcement Officer.

On July 18, 2018 Dfc. Gott conducted a traffic stop in the area of Route 4 and Patuxent Point Parkway, Solomons. Emergency Communications advised Dfc. Gott that one of the passengers, Brandon Ryan Harris (19), had an active warrant through St. Mary’s County. Harris was asked to exit the vehicle when Dfc. Gott observed a metal grinder with suspected marijuana between the seat and door jam. Harris admitted it was his grinder. A search of the vehicle revealed a Walmart bag tucked under the passenger seat with 9 unused hypodermic syringes and one used syringe containing suspected heroin residue. The second passenger, Ryan Andrew Murray (32), admitted to the syringes being his. Harris and Murray were placed under arrest and transported to the Calvert County Detention Center. Harris was served his warrant and Murray was charged with CDS: Administer Equipment-Possession/Distribute.

On July 19, 2018 Dfc. Y. Bortchevsky conducted a traffic stop in the area of E Chesapeake Beach Road and St. Andrew’s Drive, Chesapeake Beach. A search of the vehicle was conducted. A black bag that belonged to one of the passengers, Denzel Christopher Williams (22), contained his wallet, a plastic baggie with approximately 19.6 grams of suspected marijuana, a digital scale and a metal grinder with suspected marijuana residue. Williams was placed under arrest and transported to the Calvert County Detention Center where he was charged with CDS: Possession of Marijuana>10 Grams.

On July 20, 2018 Deputy Sampson conducted a traffic stop in the area of Route 4 at Thomas Hance Excavating, Prince Frederick. While making contact with the driver, John Lee Baxter II (37), TFC Harrod, who was assisting with the stop, noticed a plastic baggie of pills sitting in the center console of the vehicle. A search of the vehicle revealed CDS and paraphernalia. Baxter was placed under arrest and transported to the Calvert County Detention Center. Once at the jail, a search of Baxter’s person revealed a plastic baggie of suspected heroin. Baxter was charged with CDS: Possession-Not Marijuana, CDS: Possession of Paraphernalia, and Possessing or Receiving CDS While Confined.  

On July 22, 2018 Deputy Yates responded to Clubhouse Drive, Lusby for the report of damaged property. The complainant advised his neighbor’s girlfriend, Robin Suggs (32), punched through the glass of his bedroom window. Deputy Yates made contact with Suggs who advised she did in fact punch his window because they refused to return her phone to her. Suggs was placed under arrest and transported to the Calvert County Detention Center where she was charged with Malicious Destruction of Property-Less Than $1,000.

On July 22, 2018 Deputy Flynt responded to Boyds Trail, Owings for the report of a trespasser. Eric Carr (25) was found lying in the bed of one of the bedrooms in the residence. In the room Deputy Flynt observed six hypodermic syringes, a silver spoon with small pieces of cotton and a glass smoking device. Carr was placed under arrest and transported to the Calvert County Detention Center where he was charged with CDS: Possession of Paraphernalia and CDS: Administer Equipment-Possession/Distribute.
