SHERIFF'S OFFICE INCIDENT BRIEFINGS - APRIL 23RD, 2019


During the week of April 15th through April 21st deputies of the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office responded to 1,385 calls for service throughout the community.

Damaged Property: 19-21925
On April 18th, 2019 Deputy Aranda responded to Golden West Way in Lusby for the report of damaged property. The complainant advised sometime between 10 pm on April 17th and 11 am on April 18th, an unknown suspect egged their vehicle. After washing the eggs off, there appeared to be no damage to the vehicle or the vehicle’s paint.

Theft: 19-21250
On April 15th, 2019 Deputy Sturdivant responded to Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Power Plant located in Lusby for the report of a theft. The complainant advised $3,500 worth of copper wiring had been stolen between Thursday, April 11th and Friday, April 12th from the storage facility.

On April 18th, 2019 Deputy Anderson responded to Lower Marlboro Road in Owings for the report of a theft. The complainant advised around 11:30 am he noticed his vehicle registration plate had been torn from the tag bracket. The estimated value of stolen property is approximately $134.

ARRESTS:

On April 18th, 2019 Corporal Wilson responded to Horseshoe Trail in Lusby for the report of a domestic argument coming from a car parked in the roadway. As Corporal Wilson exited his agency vehicle, a black male who was later identified as Tyree Jamal Johnson (23), started charging at him in an aggressive manner. Johnson stood in a fighting position with his hands balled up into fists and shoulders squared up to Corporal Wilson. Corporal Wilson put his hand out to create space between them when Johnson pushed his hand away and retreated back to the vehicle parked in the roadway. Johnson was ordered to exit the vehicle but refused to comply with orders given by Corporal Wilson. Johnson was very combative and argumentative during the incident. Johnson was subsequently placed under arrest then transported to the Calvert County Detention Center where he was charged with Disorderly Conduct, Assault Second Degree and Resist/ Interfere with Arrest.

On April 20th, 2019 Deputy Lewis responded to Mattapany Road in Saint Leonard for the report of a 911 hang up. Deputy Lewis made contact with the victim on scene who stated that the suspect, Charles Edward Chase Jr. (53), was yelling and screaming inside the home and wanted to fight. The victim stated they exited the home in attempt to separate themselves from Chase. While on scene, Chase was yelling from the front porch at the victim after being instructed to stop yelling profanities and to calm down.  Deputy Lewis could smell a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from Chase’s breath and person. Chase continued to yell and use profanity, so he was then placed under arrest and transported to the Calvert County Detention Center where he was charged with Disorderly Conduct.

On April 21st, 2019 Detective Rector contacted the Calvert Control Center and advised there was a fight in progress in the middle of South Bound Route 4 at Fox Run Boulevard. Deputy Sturdivant arrived on scene to assist Detective Rector. Detective Rector placed the suspect, Branden Lee Barger (39), in handcuffs and sat him on his knees in the grass. Deputy Sturdivant made contact with Barger, who began yelling obscenities at the driver of the other vehicle then became disorderly and started cursing at deputies on scene. After interviewing witnesses on scene, it was discovered that Barger was weaving throughout traffic, tailgating other vehicles, and aggressively driving. Barger then got out of his vehicle and started banging on the window of the victim’s vehicle with his metal rings, trying to pull the door open to get to the driver. Deputy Sturdivant discovered a switch blade knife in the cup holder of the suspect’s vehicle. Barger was arrested and transported to the Calvert County Detention Center where he was charged with Assault 2nd degree, Disorderly Conduct, and Dangerous Weapon- Conceal.

MOTORIZED GO-CART ACCIDENT IN DUNKIRK - APRIL 21ST, 2019


    On Sunday, April 21, 2019 at approximately 11:15 a.m., members of the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 2300 block of Golf Club Drive, Dunkirk, MD for a report of a crash involving a motorized go-cart.  Upon arrival, deputies and rescue personnel discovered an overturned go-cart with multiple patients on the scene.
            
    A preliminary investigation by the Calvert Reconstruction Team revealed three juveniles were riding in a go-cart operated by an 11 year-old juvenile female of Dunkirk, MD.  The go-cart passengers were a 7 year-old juvenile male of Dunkirk, MD and 12 year-old juvenile female of Frederick, MD.  The go-cart was being driven on the street and entered the cul-de-sac located in the 2300 block of Golf Club Drive.  During a right turn maneuver the go-cart overturned on its left side ejecting the occupants. 
            
    The driver, the 11 year-old female, was transported to Children’s Hospital in Washington, DC by MSP Trooper 2 where she succumbed to her injuries sustained in the crash.  The 7 year-old male passenger was transported to Children’s Hospital in Washington, DC by MSP Trooper 7, where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries sustained in the crash.  He is listed in stable condition.  The 12 year-old female passenger was treated for non-life threatening injuries on the scene and released.

Theft: 19-20578
On April 11th, 2019 Dfc. Wood responded to Olympia Sports in Dunkirk for the report of a theft. The assistant manager stated two black females entered the store around 7:00 pm and stole approximately $340 worth of merchandise before fleeing the store.

During the week of April 8th through April 14th deputies of the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office responded to 1,365 calls for service throughout the community.

Damaged Property: 19-20254
On April 10th, 2019 Dfc. Gott responded to Asbury Circle for the report of damaged property. The complainant advised that sometime between March 27th at 4:00 pm and April 10th at 11:40 am, several chain link fence ties connecting to nine fence poles had been cut and separated with the bottom of the fence pulled up. The estimated value of damaged property is $300.

Theft: 19-19872
On April 8th, 2019 Dfc. Boerum responded to the Wawa located in Prince Frederick for the report of a theft. The victim stated they used the ATM inside the business to withdraw money at approximately 12:45 pm.  They advised they looked away briefly while the money was preparing to be dispensed when an unknown suspect came up behind and stole their $50. The victim stated they checked their account balance after the transaction was complete and verified the account was $50 shorter when originally started.

On April 10th, 2019 Dfc. O’Donnell responded to Aztec Trail in Lusby for the report of a theft. The victim stated sometime between November 2018 and the reported incident date, two “No Trespassing” signs were stolen from his property as well as 6 marking ribbons off of their property boundary stakes. The estimated value of stolen property is $25.

On April 12th, 2019 Deputy Sampson responded to Bowie Shop Road in Huntingtown for the report of stolen tags. The victim stated sometime between 7:30 am and 6:30 pm, their front and rear tags were stolen from her vehicle while it was parked at the Dunkirk Park and Ride.

ARRESTS:

On April 9th, 2019 a lookout was broadcasted for a possible intoxicated driver. Cpl. Harms located the vehicle a short time later in the area of Route 2 and Dalrymple Rd where he initiated a traffic stop. The driver, who was later identified as Dodanim Ninrod Aguirre (32), immediately rolled up the windows of the vehicle, refusing to provide Cpl. Harms with any identification. Aguirre was ordered several times to put down the window or open the door to no avail. Aguirre was subsequently removed from the vehicle and placed under arrest. A search of the vehicle revealed a HK P30 .40 caliber handgun containing 12 rounds in the magazine, as well as several empty beer cans. Aguirre was transported to the Calvert County Detention Center where he was charged with Dangerous Weapon- Conceal, Failure to Obey a Reasonable/Lawful Order, Obstructing & Hindering, Loaded Handgun on Person, Loaded Handgun in Vehicle, Handgun on Person, Handgun in Vehicle and several traffic citations for driving under the influence.

On April 10th, 2019 Deputy Sturdivant was dispatched to the Southern Branch Library located in Solomons for a check welfare. It was learned that the suspect had been drinking heavily and stated he fell and injured his face. An attempt to locate was conducted in the area with negative results. Several hours later, Deputy Sturdivant was dispatched to the area of Solomons Urgent Care in Solomons for the report of a disorderly subject. Upon arrival, Deputy Sturdivant made contact with the same suspect from the previous call, Gary Scott Arbaugh Jr. (36), and placed him into handcuffs. While speaking to Arbaugh, Deputy Sturdivant could smell a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emitting from his breath. Arbaugh Jr. was treated at the hospital for his injuries then transported to the Calvert County Detention Center where he was charged with Disorderly Conduct, Public Intoxication, Intoxicated Endangerment, and Possession of an Open Container in Public.

On April 13th, 2019 Dfc. T. Buckler responded to the Chesapeake Beach Fastop pavilion area for the reported CDS violation. The complainant advised that the suspect, Brenda Dickerson (52), was selling his prescription medication at the Fastop. Dfc. T. Buckler made contact with Dickerson and notified her of the alleged offense. Dickerson gave Cpl. Wilson six full pills and two half pills from her person, which she stated were her prescribed Xanax. There was no prescription bottle located on Dickerson. Dickerson was placed under arrest and transported to the Calvert County Detention Center where she was charged with CDS: Possession- Not Marijuana. After arriving at the Detention Center, an additional blue pill was located on her person.

On April 13th, 2019 Deputy Sampson conducted a traffic stop in the area of Route 2 and Clyde Jones Rd. located in Sunderland. Deputy Sampson was almost complete with the traffic stop when he asked the driver and passenger to step out while a K9 scan was conducted. The passenger, Bryan DeAndre Rawlings (23), became very combative and told the driver not to comply. Rawlings was subsequently removed from the vehicle and placed in handcuffs. A K9 scan of the vehicle was then conducted which resulted in a positive alert. A search of the vehicle revealed 2 baggies with suspected cocaine residue, a clear wrapper from a cigarette carton that had been heat sealed then reopened, and 2 cut straws. Rawlings was placed under arrest and transported to the Calvert County Detention Center where he was charged with CDS: Possession- Not Marijuana, CDS: Possession of Paraphernalia, Obstructing & Hindering, and Resist/Interfere with Arrest.

On April 5, 2019 Dfc. Wood responded to Stephen Reid Road, Huntingtown for the report of a theft. The complainant advised sometime between April 4th at 5:00 PM and April 5th at 7:00 AM an unknown suspect(s) stole two pairs of Beats by Dre headphones. The value of stolen property is $300.

During the week of April 1 – April 7 deputies of the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office responded to 1,448 calls for service throughout the community.

Burglary: 19-18961
On April 3, 2019 Deputy Freeland responded to Long Beach Drive, St. Leonard for the report of a burglary. The complainant advised an unknown suspect opened the door of his residence, reached his hand through the doorway then left the scene. No damage was done and no property was taken.

On April 6, 2019 Dfc. Burggraff responded to Balsam Street, St. Leonard for the report of damaged property. The complainant advised sometime between 9:00 AM and 6:00 PM an unknown suspect(s) shot 5 holes in the windows of his house with a BB gun. The estimated value of damaged property is $1,000.

On April 1, 2019 Dfc. R. Evans responded to S. Solomons Island Road, Prince Frederick for the report of a theft. The complainant advised sometime between March 30th at 12:01 AM and April 1st at 7:30 PM an unknown suspect(s) stole $85 from a drawer in her office.

On April 2, 2019 Dfc. Rzepkowski received a phone call in reference to a theft. The complainant advised sometime between 10:00 AM and 1:00 PM on March 31st an unknown suspect(s) stole the registration plate from his vehicle. The value of stolen property is approximately $100.

On April 3, 2019 Deputy Flynt responded to Skinners Turn Road, Owings for the report of a theft. The complainant advised around 5:30 PM he noticed a male on his front porch. When he went outside to see what the man was doing, he was gone and so was his granddaughter’s Hello Kitty bike. The value of the bike was less than $100.

On April 4, 2019 Dfc. Clark responded to Huntingtown High School for the report of a theft that happened at Plum Point Middle School in May of 2018. The complainant advised his daughter left her flute in the band room in May of 2018. On May 11, 2018 she went to retrieve her flute but found that it was missing. The estimated value of the flute is $720.

On April 4, 2019 Deputy Mason responded to the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office for the report of a theft. The complainant advised sometime between March 15th and April 4th an unknown suspect(s) stole her brown wallet from her purse which contained her driver’s license, her military ID and possibly her birth certificate.

On April 5, 2019 Dfc. R. Evans responded to Ketch Road, Prince Frederick for the report of a theft. The complainant advised sometime between April 4th at 9:00 PM and April 5th at 8:30 AM an unknown suspect(s) stole $15 in change, sunglasses and a pack of cigarettes from her vehicle. The total value of stolen property is $25.

On April 5, 2019 Dfc. Gott responded to HG Trueman Road, Lusby for the report of a theft. The complainant advised sometime between December 2018 and March 16th an unknown suspect(s) stole his registration plate off his boat trailer that was parked at the Mill Creek Marina. The cost of stolen property is $50.

On April 6, 2019 Dfc. Gott responded to Dock DD at the Calvert Marina in Dowell for the report of stolen fuel. The complainant advised sometime between March 10th and April 5th at 4:00 PM an unknown suspect(s) siphoned 120 gallons of fuel from his boat. The value of stolen fuel is $360. 

ARRESTS:

On April 1, 2019 Dfc. Holt responded to McDonald’s in Chesapeake Beach for the report of an individual trespassing. Frederick Emmett Donahue (58) was issued a no trespass warning for that property on February 15th by Dfc. T. Buckler. Donahue was placed under arrest and transported to the Calvert County Detention Center where he was charged with Trespassing on Private Property.

On April 1, 2019 Deputy Savick responded to Walmart in Prince Frederick for the report of an individual trespassing. Frederick Emmett Donahue (58) was issued a no trespass warning for that property on March 30th from Deputy Durner. Donahue was placed under arrest and transported to the Calvert County Detention Center where he was charged with Trespassing on Private Property.

On April 2, 2019 Deputy Savick conducted a traffic stop on Route 4 at Ball Road in St. Leonard. The passenger, Gina Ann Marchek (40), admitted she just snorted Oxycodone and advised she had more CDS in her purse. A search of the vehicle revealed suspected Hydrocodone, suspected Lyrica, 3 white straws and marijuana. Marchek was placed under arrest and transported to the Calvert County Detention Center where she was charged with CDS: Possession-Not Marijuana and CDS: Possession of Paraphernalia.

On April 6, 2019 Dfc. Fox responded to Plaza Mexico in North Beach for the report of a disorderly subject. Christopher Daniel Wilson Jr. (23) knocked another customer’s drink off of his table and attempted to assault him. While officers made contact with him, Wilson was loud and used profanity. Wilson was placed under arrest and transported to the Calvert County Detention Center where he was charged with Disorderly Conduct, Resisting/Interfering with Arrest and Intoxicated Public Disturbance.

During the week of March 25 – March 31 deputies of the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office responded to 1,372 calls for service throughout the community.

Damaged Property: 19-18089
On March 30, 2019 Deputy Grierson responded to Algonquin Trail, Lusby for the report of damaged property. The victim advised sometime between March 29th at 8:00 pm and March 30th at 9:00 am an unknown suspect(s) damaged the windows and front windshield of his truck. The estimated value of damaged property is $1,500.

On March 25, 2019 Deputy Mason responded to Lucky Lure Lane in Owings for the report of a theft. The complainant advised sometime between 9:20 pm on March 24th and 8:15 am on March 25th an unknown suspect(s) stole $20 and ransacked their unlocked vehicle.

On March 25, 2019 Dfc. Boerum responded to Quaking Drive in Sunderland for the report of a theft. The complainant advised that sometime between 10:00 pm on March 24th and 6:00 am on March 25th an unknown suspect(s) stole his Bose wireless headphones from his unlocked vehicle. The estimated value of stolen property is $200.

On March 25, 2019 Deputy Mason responded to the Help Association Thrift Store in Owings for the report of a theft. The complainant advised around 6:40 am on March 24th an unknown suspect stole two soft back chairs that were located under the pavilion of the store. The estimated value of stolen property is $50.

On March 25, 2019 Deputy Bowlan responded to Bandera Lane, Lusby for the report of a theft. The complainant advised sometime between January and around noon that day an unknown suspect(s) stole a battery and a container of Valvoline oil from his vehicle. The estimated value of stolen property is $155.

Theft: 19-17716
On March 28, 2019 Dfc. Rzepkowski received a phone call in reference to a theft from Olympia Sports in Prince Frederick. The complainant advised at approximately 1:15 pm two unknown suspects were seen placing items into a bag they brought into the store with them. When confronted, both suspects fled the store. The value of stolen property is $169.60.

Theft: 19-17743
On March 28, 2019 Dfc. Rzepkowski responded to the Sheriff’s Office for the report of a theft. The complainant advised sometime between March 22nd and March 27th an unknown suspect stole the rear registration plate from a truck that was parked in the Simmons Ridge development that belongs to Quality Built Homes Inc. The value of stolen property is $200.

ARRESTS:

On March 25, 2019 Deputy Bowlan conducted a traffic stop in the area of Dalton Trail and Dalton Court in Lusby. Calvert Emergency Communications advised the passenger, Shawna Cruz Dudzik (38), had an active warrant through the MSP Leonardtown Barrack. A search of Dudzik’s person revealed Suboxone and a post it note with a powdery substance inside. Dudzik was placed under arrest and transported to the Calvert County Detention Center where she was charged with CDS: Possession-Not Marijuana.

On March 25, 2019 Deputy Aranda responded to the Calvert County Detention Center for the report of a CDS violation. A search of William Ray Albaugh III (22) revealed a clear capsule with white powder inside of it, along with a piece of aluminum foil with multiple burn marks. Albaugh informed detention center staff that the white powder inside the capsule is “probably fentanyl”. Albaugh was charged with Possession of Contraband in a Place of Confinement, CDS: Possession-Not Marijuana and CDS: Possession of Paraphernalia.

On March 26, 2019 Deputy Sampson conducted a traffic stop in the area of Route 2 and the Sunderland Park and Ride. Deputy Sampson made contact with the occupants of the vehicle who were identified as Lavell Antra Jones (41), Marc Ramon James (50) and Matthew John Vitale (28). Calvert Emergency Communications advised Vitale had an active warrant through the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office. Vitale was placed under arrest and a search of his person revealed two make shift “push rods” for clearing a crack pipe. A search of the vehicle revealed several small fragments of suspected crack cocaine, a glass pipe with a copper filter wad, suspected cocaine residue and Suboxone. Jones and James were then placed under arrest. All three subjects were transported to the Calvert County Detention Center where they were charged with CDS: Possession-Not Marijuana and CDS: Possession of Paraphernalia. In addition to those charges, Vitale was also charged with Trespassing.
