Theft: 19-15755:
On March 18th, 2019 First Sgt. Canning responded to Olympia Sports in Dunkirk for the report of a theft. The complainant advised that an unknown suspect entered the store, placed a baseball cap on their head, then exited the store shortly after without paying for the item. The value of stolen property is approximately $25.

During the week of March 18th – March 24th deputies of the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office responded to 1,417 calls for service throughout the community.

Damaged Property: 19-15617
On March 18th, 2019 Dfc. Gott responded to Solomons Island for the report of damaged property. The victim stated sometime between March 15th at midnight and March 18th at 9:54 am, an unknown suspect(s) damaged several sections of vinyl fence along the boardwalk. The approximate value of damaged property is $1,500.

On March 20th, 2019 Deputy Grierson responded to Gregg Drive in Lusby for the report of damaged property. The victim stated that sometime between 11:30 pm on March 19th and 8:30 am on March 20th, an unknown suspect(s) destroyed the sunroof to the vehicle parked in the driveway. The approximate value of damaged property is $500.

On March 19th, 2019 Deputy Parks responded to the Weis Grocery Store in Lusby for the report of a theft. The victim stated their IPhone X was stolen from the customer service counter sometime around 10:35 am. The estimated value of stolen property is $999.

ARRESTS:

On March 18th, Dfc. O’Donnell responded to Sakura Japanese Steakhouse in Prince Frederick for the report of harassment and damaged property. The victim stated they were being harassed by the suspect via telephone messages after repeatedly being told to cease communication. The suspect then arrived at the victim’s work and was seen writing on their car windows with white paint. Dfc. O’Donnell placed the suspect, John Hampton Fore III (47), under arrest and transported him to the Calvert County Detention Center where he was charged with Malicious Destruction of Property Value Less than $1,000, Harassment, and Stalking.

On March 19, 2019 Dfc. Mohler conducted a traffic stop in the area of Clubhouse Drive and Rousby Hall Road in Lusby. While making contact with the driver, Nathaniel Lee Davis III (28), Dfc. Mohler detected a faint odor of raw marijuana emanating from the vehicle. A search of the vehicle revealed a mason jar containing four large Ziploc bags of suspected marijuana, weighing approximately 50.5 grams. The search also revealed a multi colored glass smoking device and a digital scale with suspect marijuana residue. Davis was subsequently arrested and transported to the Calvert County Detention Center where he was charged with CDS: Possession with Intent to Distribute, CDS: Possession of Marijuana 10 grams or more, and CDS: Possession of Paraphernalia.

On March 21st, 2019 Deputy Grierson conducted a traffic stop in the area of South Solomons Island Road and Lore Road in Solomons.  A K9 scan of the vehicle resulted in a positive alert. A search of the vehicle revealed a mason jar of suspected marijuana which weighed approximately 36 grams. The driver, Lanny Wayne Chapman II (26), was placed under arrest and transported to the Calvert County Detention Center where he was charged with CDS: Possession of Marijuana 10 Grams or more.

Burglary: 19-15046
On March 14th, 2019 Dfc. Gott responded to H.G. Trueman Road in Lusby for the report of a burglary. Dfc. Gott made contact with the complainant who stated they returned home from their neighbor’s house and caught a glimpse of an unknown male with long, dark, shoulder length hair running down their hallway. The suspect fled after being caught and ran into the wooded area behind the residence.

During the week of March 11th – March 17th deputies of the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office responded to 1,476 calls for service throughout the community.

Burglary: 19-14984
On March 14th, 2019 Dfc. O’Donnell responded to Chesapeake Ave in St. Leonard for the report of a burglary. The complainant advised sometime between March 12th at 7:00 am and March 14th at 4:23 pm, an unknown suspect(s) entered their residence and stole several prescription narcotics as well as a black house phone that had a value of $30.

On March 14th, 2019 Dfc. Gott responded to H.G. Trueman Road in Lusby for the report of a burglary. Dfc. On March 15th, 2019 Deputy Anderson responded to The Spot Thrift Store in St. Leonard for the report of a theft. The complainant advised sometime between 5 pm on March 14th and 9:30 am on March 15th, an unknown suspect(s) stole a black leather jacket with an estimated value of $90.

On March 16th, 2019 Deputy Flynt responded to Game Stop in Dunkirk for the report of a theft. The complainant stated at approximately noon an unknown black male and an unknown black female entered the store together where they were both seen placing items inside a purse and down their pants. Both suspects exited the store without paying for items.  The approximate value of stolen items is $53.

ARRESTS:

On March 12th, 2019 Deputy Ridgely was dispatched to the area of Stamper Court in Prince Frederick for the report of a subject under the influence and possibly in possession of a stolen handgun. After canvassing the area with negative results, Sergeant Naecker observed an abandoned house on Tubman Drive in Prince Frederick. Sergeant Naecker and Corporal Morgan made entry into the house and located the suspect, Dru Mathew Maguire (20), sleeping on a couch. Maguire was placed under arrest and transported to the Calvert County Detention Center where he was charged with Burglary- 4th Degree – Dwelling.

On March 12th, 2019 Deputy Mason and DFC Mohler responded to Fairground Road in Prince Frederick for the report of an individual with a warrant. Upon arrival, Deputies Mason and Mohler observed the wanted individual in a parking lot. The suspect, Lemuel Mckinley Mackall Jr. (35), advised deputies he was unaware of the pending arrest warrant. DFC Mohler asked Mackall if he had any weapons on him and Mackall advised he had a pistol in his pants pocket. DFC Mohler and Deputy Mason were able to retrieve the unloaded handgun from his pants pocket without incident. Mackall was placed under arrest and transported to the Calvert County Detention Center where he was charged with Handgun on Person, Illegal Possession of a Regulated Firearm, and Firearm Possession with Felony Conviction.

On March 14th, 2019 Deputy Wilder responded to Shore Acres Way in Prince Frederick for the report of a trespasser. The complainant advised that the suspect had returned to the residence after being told an hour prior by Deputy Wilder she was not welcome there. Deputy Wilder placed Valerie Mason (67) under arrest and transported her to the Calvert County Detention Center where she was charged with Failure to Obey Reasonable/Lawful Order and Trespass: Private Property.

On March 15th, 2019 Deputy Sampson conducted a traffic stop in the Fox Run Shopping Center located in Prince Frederick. Upon making contact with the driver, Nicole Fant (33), Deputy Sampson observed her slurred speech and slow movements as well as green residue in her right nostril. A search of the vehicle revealed a purse containing a pill grinder with various shades of pill powder to include green, orange and white. Located throughout the vehicle were several prescription bottles with several pills missing, based on the dosage statements versus when it was originally filled. Fant was arrested and transported to the Calvert County Detention Center. While at the Detention Center, a secondary search was conducted and Fant was found to be in possession of a folded $1 bill with suspected pill residue. Fant was charged with CDS: Possession Not Marijuana, CDS: Possession Paraphernalia, and Possession of CDS While Confined/Detained.

On March 16th, 2019 Deputy Anderson responded to H.G. Trueman Road in Solomons for a warrant service. Upon arrival, Deputy Anderson met with a State Trooper who had the suspect, Nicole Anne Kelly (33), in his marked cruiser. Upon arriving at the Calvert County Detention Center, Kelly was asked by Correctional staff if she had any contraband and she advised she did not. While searching her belongings, a card holder containing Suboxone strips was located. Kelly advised the Suboxone strips were not hers and they were prescribed to someone else. Kelly was additionally charged with CDS: Possession- Not Marijuana and Possession of Contraband in a place of confinement.

On March 17th, 2019 Deputy Anderson responded to the area of Route 4 at Parran Road to assist Sergeant Shrawder with a traffic stop. Sergeant Shrawder was issuing a traffic warning to the driver, Justin Dale Wood (29), and asked for consent to search the vehicle. Consent was given by Wood and a search of the vehicle revealed a hypodermic syringe. Wood advised he was not diabetic and the needle was in fact his. Wood was placed under arrest and transported to the Calvert County Detention Center where he was charged with CDS: Possession of Paraphernalia.

During the week of March 4th – March 10th deputies of the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office responded to 1,625 calls for service throughout the community.

Damaged Property: 19-12773
On March 5th, 2019 Dfc. Cress responded to Chesapeake Beach for the report of damaged property. The complainant advised sometime between the hours of 2:00 am 3:00 am on March 5th, an unknown person(s) threw an object at her vehicle windshield causing damage. The approximate value of damaged property is $300.

On March 4th, 2019 Deputy Lewis responded to the Wendy’s restaurant in Prince Frederick for the report of a theft. The victim advised sometime between Thursday February 28th and Monday March 4th, an unknown suspect(s) entered the construction site and stole several supplies. The estimated value of stolen items is approximately $3,300.

On March 9th, 2019 Dfc. R. Evans responded to the Calvert Tap House located in Prince Frederick for the report of a theft. The victim advised sometime between the hours of 12:45 am and 1:00 am an unknown suspect(s) stole her purse and the contents inside. Total value of stolen items is approximately $130.

On March 9th, 2019 Dfc. Rediker responded to Sonoma Lane in Prince Frederick for the report of a theft from vehicle. The victim stated that sometime between the hours of 12:30 am and 11:30 am an unknown suspect stole $80 in cash and black in color Beats Headphones from their unlocked vehicle. The total estimated value of stolen property is approximately $330.

On March 10th, 2019 Deputy Ward responded to Smoky Road in Huntingtown for the report of a theft of farm equipment. The complainant advised that his 15-Foot Field Cultivator was stolen between the end of February 2019 and March 10th, when it was reported. The approximate value of stolen property is estimated at $3,000.

ARRESTS:

On March 4th, 2019 Deputy Wilder responded to the Calvert County Detention Center for the complaint of destruction of property. It was revealed that James Thomas Lanzi (27), broke a sprinkler head inside of his holding cell causing his jail issued items to be destroyed. The total value of damaged property is approximately $250. Lanzi was charged with Malicious Destruction of Property less than $1,000.

On March 4th, 2019 Deputy Parks responded to the area of Papa John’s in Prince Frederick for the report of a disorderly subject. Upon arrival, Deputy Parks made contact with a person in the area who stated a woman was walking around screaming, yelling, and talking to herself in the parking lot. Deputy Parks then found Colleen Marie Arnold (34), laying in the middle of the side parking lot of the BB&T Bank who appeared to be heavily intoxicated. Deputy Parks asked Arnold if she had any contraband on her person and she admitted to possessing Suboxone.  Arnold then became disorderly and began to walk away from Deputy Parks during questioning. Deputy Parks attempted to detain Arnold and she resisted. Arnold was subsequently arrested and transported to the Emergency Room where she was cleared to be transported to the Calvert County Detention Center. Once arriving at the Detention Center, Arnold was formally charged with Disorderly Conduct and Intoxicated Public Disturbance.

On March 5th, 2019 Detective McCourt conducted a traffic stop in the area of Traskers Blvd and Route 4. Dfc. Childress and his K9 partner responded to the traffic stop and performed a scan of the vehicle which resulted in a positive alert. A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed a small black glove with 14 small capsules containing suspected a heroin/fentanyl mixture. The driver, Bryan Edward Seay (29), was placed under arrest and transported to the Calvert County Detention Center where he was charged with CDS: Possession- Not Marijuana, and Possession with Intent to Distribute Fentanyl/Heroin Mix.

On March 5th, 2019 Deputy Ward responded to the Giant in Prince Frederick for a report of a theft. Deputy Ward made contact with the manager who stated the suspect, Julie Williams (70), walked out of the grocery store with a cart full of unpaid items. Williams walked back into the store with employees after being questioned. Deputy Ward had the employee’s ring up the amount of stolen items from the store which totaled $164.53. Williams was placed under arrest and transported to the Calvert County Detention Center where she was charged with Theft $100 to $1,500.

On March 7th, 2019 Deputy Bowlan responded to Taos Trail and Redeye Road in Lusby for the report of an auto accident. The passenger of the vehicle, Daniel James Branham (18), appeared to be under the influence and admitted to taking some pills. A consented search of his person revealed 7 yellow round pills. Branham was placed under arrest and transported to the Calvert County Detention Center where he was charged with CDS: Possession not Marijuana.

On March 8th, 2019 Deputy Mason and DFC Mohler initiated a traffic stop in the area of Hallowing Point Road and N. Solomons Island Road. During the traffic stop, Deputy Mason observed a black handgun case in the rear passenger side floorboard. After confirming the suspect, Jordan Tyler Parsons (24), did not possess a concealed carry permit, Parsons was asked to step out of the vehicle. Deputy Mason removed the gun from the case, which was fully loaded with two other loaded magazines.  Parsons was placed under arrest and transported to the Calvert County Detention Center where he was charged with Loaded Handgun in Vehicle, Handgun in Vehicle, and Dangerous Weapon- Conceal.

SHERIFF'S OFFICE INCIDENT BRIEFINGS - MAR. 5TH, 2019


During the week of February 25 – March 3 deputies of the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office responded to 1,348 calls for service throughout the community.

Theft: 19-11648
On February 27th, 2019 Deputy Crum responded to Churchill Court in Owings for the reported theft of a lunchbox. The victim stated they were pumping gas at Wawa in Dunkirk when they placed a camouflage green and brown lunchbox on top of the trashcan. The victim left the lunchbox, proceeded to walk inside and returned to the trashcan a short time later to find the lunchbox was missing. The approximate value of stolen items is $55.

Theft: 19-11831
On February 28th, 2019 Dfc. Rediker responded to the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office for the report of a theft. The victim advised on February 27th at approximately 11:00 am, an unknown suspect(s) stole 3 orange colored cones from Burr Oaks with a value of $12 each. The sum of stolen items is approximately $36.

Theft: 19-12140
On March 1st, 2019 Dfc. Jacobs responded to Roland’s Supermarket in Chesapeake Beach for the reported shoplifting incident that occurred earlier in the day. The manager stated that an unknown older white male and an unknown younger white male entered the business, stole a package of laxatives, and exited without paying for item. The approximate value of stole item is $4.

ARRESTS:

On February 25th, 2019 Deputy Sampson responded to the area of W. Dares Beach Road in Prince Frederick for the report of a person being disorderly. The suspect, identified as Victoria Felicia Bowen (36), had already been warned on three separate incidents throughout the day to stop causing a scene and disturbing the businesses on W. Dares Beach Road. Bowen was arrested and transported to the Calvert County Detention Center where she was charged with disorderly conduct.

On March 3rd, 2019 Dfc. Aurich responded to Abner’s Crab House in Chesapeake Beach for the report of a disorderly trespasser. The suspect, Kyle William Lesueur (27), was warned multiple times to calm down and leave the establishment, but did not heed the advice of the officers. Lesueur was placed under arrest and transported to the Calvert County Detention Center where he was charged with Failure to Obey Reasonable/Lawful Order and Trespass: Private Property.

SCHOOL BUILDING SERVICE WORKER ARRESTED FOR INAPPROPRIATELY TOUCHING STUDENT

    On Tuesday, February 26th, 2019 Sheriff Deputies were notified by the Northern High School Administration of a possible Sexual Assault that occurred on the day prior. A 15 year old juvenile reported a building service worker, Scott David Valentine, a 58 year old male from Friendship Maryland, inappropriately touched her while she was watching practice. She further alleged he continued to encounter her at various locations throughout the school. Several other students confirmed the allegations of the juvenile victim, and the video footage has been subpoenaed.

    On March 01, 2019 a warrant was issued for a Sexual Offense in the 4th Degree and Assault in the 2nd Degree. He was arrested on March 02, 2019 and processed into the Calvert County Detention Center. Mr. Valentine was released on a $10,000 bond on the same date.
