throughout the community.
Burglary: 18-3760
On January

On January
26, 2018 Dfc. Hardesty responded to St Leonard Road, Saint Leonard for the
report of damaged property. The owner of the business stated between January 25th
at 5:15 PM and January 26th at 8:00 AM an unknown suspect(s)
tampered with the lock and attempted to enter the business, but was
unsuccessful.
Burglary: 18-4393
On January
27, 2018 Dfc. Rediker responded to The Shops at Ogden’s Commons on Parker’s
Creek Road, Port Republic for the report of a burglary. The victim stated
around 2:00 AM she received an alarm to her business that indicated a door was
opened, which she found when she showed up around 8:45 that morning. The door
appeared to have been pried open with a bar by an unknown suspect(s). The
estimated value of the damage is approximately $300.

On January
22, 2018 Dfc. Fox responded to Bedford Drive, North Beach for the report of a
vehicle that had possibly been keyed. The vehicle owner stated on January 21st
between 9:30 AM and 10:30 AM her vehicle was scratched while parked at the
World Gym in Owings. It is undetermined whether it was a scratch by key or by
vehicle. The estimated damaged property is $200.

22, 2018 Deputy J. Ward responded to Victoria Lane, Sunderland for the report
of damaged property. The complainant stated she left her residence and noticed
two of her neighbors’ mailboxes were damaged. Both victims stated sometime
between January 20th at 4:30 PM and January 21st at 8:00
AM an unknown suspect(s) purposely damaged their mailboxes. The estimated
damaged property is $100 each.

25, 2018 Dfc. Kreps responded to Stinnett Road, Huntingtown for the report of
damaged property. The victim stated sometime between January 14th at
12:00 PM and January 21st at 12:00 PM an unknown suspect(s) had
taken his wooden shooting target apart and driven in his yard. The estimated
value of the damaged property is $30.

On January
28, 2018 Deputy Parks responded to Shore Acres Way, Prince Frederick for the
report of damaged property. The victim stated at approximately 8:17 PM he heard
a loud bang from his sliding glass door. Deputy Parks noticed a large crack in
the glass, however, it is unknown what caused damage to the door.

22, 2018 Deputy Parks responded to Calvert Towne Drive, Prince Frederick for
the report of a theft. The victim stated an unknown suspect(s) had stolen her
rear license plate from her vehicle while she was at work that day.

24, 2018 Deputy Spalding responded to Dawkins Court, Saint Leonard for the
report of a theft. The victim stated at approximately 12:30 PM his cell phone
was stolen from Middleham and St Peter’s Parish church parking lot in Lusby.
The estimated value of the stolen property is $750.

On January
25, 2018 Dfc. Mitchell responded to Owings Hill Court, Owings for the report of
a theft. The victim stated sometime between December 25th and
January 25th an unknown suspect(s) stole the registration plates
from his utility trailer which was parked in front of his residence. The
estimated value of stolen property is less than $100.
Theft: 18-4477
On January
27, 2018 Dfc. Y. Bortchevsky responded to the Northeast Community Center,
Chesapeake Beach for the report of a theft. The victim stated between 7:00 PM
and 8:00 PM an unknown suspect(s) stole his wallet while playing basketball.
His wallet contained a Navy Federal Credit Union bank card, his Maryland
driver’s license, his social security card and his health insurance card.

27, 2018 Dfc. Childress responded to Walmart in Prince Frederick for the report
of a theft. The victim stated between 9:00 AM and 1:30 PM an unknown suspect(s)
stole a cell phone car charger as well as 8 Prednisone pills from her unlocked
vehicle. The estimated value of the stolen property is $60.

On January
28, 2018 Dfc. Burggraff responded to Stock Drive, Lusby for the report of a
theft. The complainant stated he noticed on January 26th that an
unknown suspect(s) stole the year sticker of the tags from his mother’s
vehicle.
Motor Vehicle Theft: 18-3728
On January
23, 2018 Deputy R. Shrawder responded to St John’s Creek Road, Lusby for the
report of a stolen vehicle. The victim stated between January 15th at
7:00 PM and January 23rd, while he was away on a business trip, an
unknown suspect(s) stole his 2008 Harley Davidson.
Arrests:
On January
22, 2018 Deputy R. Evans conducted a traffic stop in the area of Sixes Road and
Grays Road, Prince Frederick. Deputy Evans approached the vehicle and made
contact with the driver, Richard Kidwell
Jr. After running his information, Deputy Evans approached the vehicle,
this time from the passenger side and recognized an odor of marijuana coming
from the vehicle. After a search of the vehicle, Kidwell was placed under
arrest for an active warrant through Montgomery County and transported to the Calvert
County Detention Center. Correctional Officer McDowell conducted a search on
Kidwell and found 20 grams of suspected marijuana in a plastic bag as well as
another 10 gram bag of suspected marijuana during the strip search. Kidwell was
charged with CDS: Possession of Marijuana 10 gm+ and Possession/Receive CDS
While Confined/Detained (Marijuana).

On January
23, 2018 Deputy R. Shrawder responded to Clay Hammond Road, Prince Frederick
for the report of a burglary. Because of previous burglaries at his home, the
homeowner set up trail cameras around his house. After watching the trail
camera footage, Deputy Ward and Trooper Rucker recognized the male captured on
camera and identified him as Kevin
Riggleman. Deputy Ward and Trooper Rucker located Riggleman walking on Clay
Hammond Road where he was arrested and transported to the Calvert County
Detention Center. Riggleman was served three active warrants and charged with
Trespassing: Private Property and Second Degree Burglary.

On January
24, 2018 Deputy Ridgely responded to Shore Acres Way, Prince Frederick for a
report of a suspicious vehicle. Deputy Ridgely made contact with the driver,
identified as Danielle Murphy (33). While
speaking with Murphy, Ridgely noticed a damp cigarette in the center console by
her touch screen. The passenger, later identified as Ryan Graves (39) kept touching a damp cigarette and was asked to
exit the vehicle. Once out of the vehicle, Deputy Ridgely immediately
recognized the odor of PCP. Both Murphy and Graves were placed under arrest.
Graves was transported to the Calvert County Detention Center and charged with
CDS: Possession-Not Marijuana (PCP) and CDS: Possession of Paraphernalia.
Murphy was transported to the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office and charged with
CDS: Possession-Not Marijuana (PCP), CDS: Possession with Intent to Distribute,
CDS: Possibly Marijuana 10 gm+, two counts of CDS: Possession of Paraphernalia,
and Altering Drug/Alcohol Test.

On January
24, 2018 Deputy Yates responded to Calvert Health Medical Center, Prince
Frederick for the report of a check welfare of an individual refusing medical treatment.
Marisa Ramos (24) refused to listen
to Deputy Yates and continued to make several loud outbursts. She was asked to
refrain from yelling in the hospital and warned that if she continued to do so,
the consequence would be her arrest. After an additional loud outburst in the
hallway, Ramos was placed under arrest and transported to the Calvert County
Detention Center where she was charged with Disturbing the Peace and Failure to
Obey Lawful Order.

Kmart, Prince Frederick for the report of a theft. The victim stated that at
approximately 8:45pm a black male wearing a white shirt and blue jeans burned
off the security lock and stole a 55” Samsung HDTV and exited the store through
the fire emergency doors. The value of the stolen property is $799.

Sampson responded to China King Restaurant, Huntingtown for the report of an
attempted burglary. The victim stated that sometime between January 15th
at 10:30pm and January 16th at 8:00am an unknown suspect(s)
attempted to break the glass to the front door in order to gain entry into the
restaurant. The suspect(s) were unsuccessful and no items were taken from the
restaurant. The estimated value of damaged property is $1,000.

On January 15, 2018 Deputy
Callison responded to Meadow Lane, Chesapeake Beach for the report of a theft.
The victim stated that an unknown suspect(s) stole their package containing
prescription medicine from their mailbox. The value of the stolen property is $100.

On January 15, 2018 Dfc.
Beisel responded to the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office for the report of a
theft that occurred at the Sunderland Park and Ride. The victim stated that
sometime between January 12th at 1:15pm and January 15th
at 4:00pm an unknown suspect(s) removed the rear registration plate from their
vehicle. The value of the stolen property is $160.

On January 17, 2018 Cpl.
V. Bortchevsky responded to Dunkirk Nails and Spa, Dunkirk for the report of a
theft. The victim stated that at approximately 3:00pm a white female
approximately 50 to 55 years old exited the establishment without paying for
the spa services. The value of stolen property is $40.

On January 21, 2018 Deputy
Ridgely responded to the Kmart, Prince Frederick for the report of a theft. The
victim stated that at approximately 8:45pm a black male wearing a white shirt

Arrests:
On January 16, 2018 Dfc.
Denton conducted a traffic stop in the parking lot of Safeway, Dunkirk. After
making contact with the driver about the violations for the traffic stop, Dfc. Denton
asked for consent to search the vehicle. The driver and two passengers stepped
out of the vehicle for the search to be completed. It was determined that the
front seat passenger later identified as Dale
Buckler (50) of Hollywood had given Dfc. Denton a false name in order to
prevent him from finding out about the active warrants he had out for his arrest.
The search also revealed the back seat passenger later identified as Bernadette Gingery (53) of Leonardtown had
paraphernalia and a bottle containing urine. Gingery was placed under arrest
and transported to the Calvert County Detention Center and charged with CDS:
Possession of Paraphernalia and Alter Drug/ Alcohol Test. Buckler was placed
under arrest and transported to the Calvert County Detention Center and charged
with Fraud – Per Identification Avoid Prosecution and for the open warrants.

On January 18, 2018 Deputy
Rzepkowski responded to the Calvert County Detention Center for a CDS
violation. It was determined that a female later identified as Kelly Branson (28) of North Beach had
turned herself in on multiple warrants. A search of her person was conducted
which resulted in narcotics being located. Branson was charged with
Possession/Receive CDS While Confined/Detained and CDS: Possession-not
marijuana (Suboxone).

On January 18, 2018 Dfc.
Hardesty responded to the Walgreen’s, Lusby for the report of a theft in
progress. Upon arrival Deputy Hardesty made contact with the complainant who
advised there was a male and female in the store possibly concealing items on
their persons. The suspects were identified as Hannah Withem (22) of Lusby and Michael Swearingen (26) of Lusby. While Dfc. Hardesty was
attempting to conduct the investigation, both
subjects became disorderly and were yelling profanities. The investigation
revealed both subjects had multiple items belonging to Walgreen’s concealed and
were still in product packaging. Swearingen and Withem were both placed under
arrest and transported to the Calvert County Detention Center and charged with
Theft: $100 to under $1,500, Theft Less Than $100, Disorderly Conduct, Fail to
Obey Reasonable/Lawful order of Law Enforcement Officer.

On January 19, 2018 Deputy
Sampson responded to Cheryl Lane, Chesapeake Beach for the report of a
suspicious vehicle. Emergency Communications provided the description of the
vehicle and advised Deputy Sampson there was possibly an individual sleeping in
the vehicle. Deputy Sampson located the vehicle parked partially in the
roadway. Deputy Sampson approached the vehicle and observed a male later
identified as Allen Noyes (37) of
Chesapeake Beach sleeping inside along with paraphernalia in plain sight.
Deputy Sampson woke Noyes up and had him exit the vehicle for a search to be
conducted. The search resulted in paraphernalia and narcotics. Noyes was placed
under arrest and charged with two counts of CDS: Possession-not marijuana (heroin,
crack cocaine) and four counts of CDS: Possession of Paraphernalia.

On January 20, 2018 Deputy
Sampson conducted a traffic stop at the McDonalds, Prince Frederick. Deputy
Sampson made contact with the driver later identified as Audrie Stewart (21) of Lusby and informed her of the reason she was
being stopped. While Stewart was obtaining her driver licenses and
registration, Deputy Sampson observed paraphernalia in plain view in the
vehicle. Stewart was asked to step out of the vehicle for a search to be conducted.
The search resulted in paraphernalia and narcotics being located. Stewart was
placed under arrest and transported to the Calvert County Detention Center and
charged with two counts of CDS: Possession-not marijuana (Vyvanse, Adderall)
and two counts of CDS: Possession of paraphernalia.

ANTELOPE TRAIL STABBING INCIDENT BRIEFING
On January 17th, 2018 at
approximately 11:22 a.m. deputies responded to 544 Antelope Trail, Lusby,
Maryland for a report of a stabbing.
While on the way deputies located the suspect, Timothy Barton, of the
same address. Mr. Barton was walking a
short distance away from the residence when he was located. He was apprehended without further incident. An investigation revealed Mr. Barton stabbed his father a 53 year old male
of the same residence. The victim was
transported to Calvert Health Medical Center, and eventually airlifted to
Prince Georges shock trauma. The victim
is currently in critical condition. This
investigation is ongoing. If anyone has

victim stated that an unknown suspect(s) had entered his backyard and knocked
over several of their Christmas lights.

On January 10, 2018 Deputy
Callison responded to the Country Plaza Liquor Store, Dunkirk for the report of
a theft. The victim stated sometime between January 9th at 9:00pm
and January 10th at 8:45am an unknown suspect(s) stole the rear
registration plate from their vehicle. The value of the stolen property is
$150.
Arrests:
On January 9, 2018 Dfc. Mohler
responded to the Walmart, Prince Frederick for the report of a CDS violation.
Upon arrival to the Walmart, Deputy Mohler located the vehicle matching the
description given by Emergency Communications. Deputy Mohler entered Walmart to
attempt to locate the subjects the vehicle belonged too. The subjects were
located and later identified as Joseph
Bateman (41) of Charlotte Hall and Taylor
Schreiber (23) of Lovettsville, Virginia. A search of the vehicle was
conducted resulting in narcotics and paraphernalia. Both Bateman and Schreiber
were placed under arrest and transported to the Calvert County Detention Center
and charged with CDS: Possession-not marijuana (crack cocaine) and CDS:
Possession of Paraphernalia.

On January 10, 2018 Deputy
Ridgely responded to the Calvert County Detention Center for the report of
damaged property. Deputy Ridgely made contact with the Correctional Officer who
advised they noticed a foam object appear from under the cell. After
investigation it was determined the inmate in the cell later identified as Brian Hill (37) of Benedict had torn
apart his mattress. Hill was charged with Malicious Destruction of Property/
Value less $1,000.

SAFEWAY ROBBERY - SHERIFF'S OFFICE SEEKING PUBLIC ASSISTANCE

robbery that took place on December 23rd, 2017 at the Safeway store in Prince

During the week of January 1 – January 7, deputies of
the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office responded to 1,036 calls for service

Burglary 18-239: On January 2, 2018 Deputy Barger responded to Buck Board Lane, Dunkirk
for the report of a burglary. The victim stated that an unknown suspect(s)
entered the residence and stole multiple appliances including a block stove
top, two stainless steel ovens, a stainless steel kitchen sink, a black
dishwasher, and damaged the granite countertop. It was determined the
suspect(s) may have entered the residence by prying the rear garage door lock
open. The value of stolen and damaged property is $2,020.

Rivershore Drive, Dunkirk for the report of damaged property. The victim stated
that an unknown suspect(s) had hit their garage door and vehicle with eggs.
Theft 18-841: On January 6, 2018 Deputy Ridgely responded to Abbey Lane, Huntingtown
for the report of a theft. The victim stated that an unknown suspect(s) stole
their handmade log cabin mailbox and mailbox post. The value of stolen property
is $200.
Arrests:
On January 3, 2018 Deputy
Williamson conducted a traffic stop in the area of Route 4 and Chaneyville
Road. While making contact with the driver later identified as Christopher Slattery (37) of Prince
Frederick, Trooper McCombs arrived on scene to perform a K9 sniff on the
vehicle. The K9 sniff resulted in a positive alert and a search of Slattery and
the vehicle was conducted. The search resulted in narcotics and paraphernalia.
Slattery was placed under arrest and transported to the Calvert County Detention
Center where he was charged with CDS: Possession-Not marijuana (crack cocaine),
CDS: Possession of Paraphernalia, and other appropriate traffic citations.

On January 4, 2018 Deputy
R. Shrawder responded to the Marriott Springhill Suites, Prince Frederick for
the report of a male subject being disorderly in the lobby. Deputy Shrawder
arrived on scene and was informed the disorderly subject had returned to his
room. Deputy Shrawder made contact with two male subjects in the room, and
observed paraphernalia and narcotics in plain view. The male subject later
identified as Mark Weisner (29) of North
Carolina was placed under arrest and transported to the Calvert County
Detention Center where he was charged with CDS: Possession- Not marijuana
(Heroin) and CDS: Possession of Paraphernalia.

On January 6, 2018 Deputy
Yates responded to the Walmart, Prince Frederick for the report of a theft and
two subjects in the store who were possibly under the influence of narcotics.
Deputy Yates made contact with the first individual later identified as Gina Gear (25) of Saint Leonard who
appeared to be disoriented and slurring her speech. As Deputy Yates was
speaking to Gear, the second individual identified as Joseph Fabian (32) of Saint Leonard began to speak with Gear as
well. Deputy Yates was made aware that Fabian had removed an item out of a box
and placed it in his jacket, and Gear possibly had stolen some clothing items
while in the changing room. A search of Fabian was conducted and the stolen
item was located as well as narcotics. A search of Gear was conducted,
resulting in the stolen property, narcotics, and paraphernalia. Fabian was
placed under arrest and transported to the Calvert County Detention Center and
charged with CDS: Possession-Not marijuana (Alprazolam) and Theft Less Than
$100. Gear was placed under arrest and transported to the Calvert County
Detention Center and charged with CDS: Possession-Not Marijuana (Alprazolam),
CDS: Possession of Paraphernalia, and Theft Less Than $100.

Damaged Property 17-66886: On December 26, 2017 Dfc. Rediker responded to
Horsmon Farm Lane, Saint Leonard for the report of damaged property. The victim

Hills Drive, Chesapeake Beach for the report of damaged property. The victim
stated sometime between December 27th at 4:00pm and December 28th
at 10:00am an unknown suspect(s) egged their residence.
Damaged Property 17-67775: On December 31, 2017 Deputy Rzepkowski responded to
Leola Helen Way, Huntingtown for the report of damaged property. The victim
stated sometime between December 29th at 6:30pm and December 30th
at 6:30am an unknown suspect(s) damaged two window screens at their residence.

Theft 17-67031: On December 27, 2017 Deputy Barger responded to Smithville Drive, Dunkirk
for the report of a theft. The victim stated sometime between December 26th
at 6:10pm and December 26th at 10:30pm an unknown suspect(s) stole
their seven foot tall Sasquatch silhouette from their front yard. The value of
the stolen property is $100.
Theft 17-67271: On December 28, 2017 Dfc. Kreps responded to the PetSmart, Dunkirk for
the report of a theft. The victim stated that at approximately 5:30pm a white
male approximately 30 years old with short brown hair and a beard came into the
store and stole an Aquen Deluxe LED 36 gallon Bow Front Aquarium kit. The value
of the stolen property is $180.
Theft 17-67228: On December 28, 2017 Dfc. Aurich took a report for a theft at Southern
Memorial Gardens, Dunkirk. The victim stated that an unknown suspect(s) removed
a bronze vase from a cemetery marker. The value of the stolen property is $300.
Arrests:
On December 27, 2017 Cpl.
Wilson was assisting the Maryland State Police with a traffic stop in the area
of S Solomons Island Road and Broomes Island Road. Cpl. Wilson made contact
with the passenger of the vehicle later identified as Dominic Sergi (26) of Lusby and could immediately smell a strong
odor or marijuana coming from the vehicle. Sergi was asked to step out of the
vehicle for a search of him and the vehicle to be conducted. While Cpl. Wilson
was attempting to complete the search, Sergi started to become uncooperative,
tensing his body and moving it in a manner that would prevent Cpl. Wilson from completing
his search. Cpl. Wilson placed Sergi under arrest and transported him to the
Calvert County Detention Center where he was charged with Obstructing &
Hindering and Possession/Receive CDS While Confined/Detained.

On December 29, 2017 Dfc.
T. Mohler was in the Prince Frederick area attempting to locate a vehicle that
had been called in for a check welfare for the occupants inside the vehicle who
appeared to be nodding out. Dfc. T. Mohler located the vehicle and conducted a
traffic stop on the vehicle in the area of Dares Beach Road and Hillside Drive,
Prince Frederick. Dfc. Mohler made contact with the driver later identified as Rebecca Boucher (28) of Prince Frederick
to advise her of why she was being stopped. Emergency Communications also
advised Boucher had a possible warrant through another agency. A K9 arrived on
scene, and conducted a K9 scan of the vehicle resulting in a positive alert. A
search of Boucher was conducted resulting in narcotics and the open warrant was
confirmed to still be active. Boucher was placed under arrest and transported
to the Calvert County Detention Center and charged with CDS: Possession-not
marijuana (Oxycodone Hydrochloride) and CDS: Possession of Paraphernalia.

On December 30, 2017 Dfc.
Rediker responded to the area of Evergreen Drive and White Sands Drive, Lusby
for the report of a suspicious vehicle. Upon Dfc. Rediker’s arrival, he
observed the vehicle sitting stationary in the roadway and also Sergeant Basham
on scene talking with the occupants of the vehicle. Sergeant Basham was asking
the occupants of the vehicle to step out when he observed a concealed deadly
weapon between the driver’s seat and door. Both occupants stepped out of the
vehicle and were detained while a search of the vehicle was conducted. A search
of the vehicle revealed a concealed deadly weapon, narcotics, and
paraphernalia. The driver identified as Joanne
Kelson (48) of Lusby was placed under arrest and transported to the Calvert
County Detention Center and charged with Dangerous Weapon- Conceal and CDS:
Possession marijuana 10 Grams +. The passenger of the vehicle identified as Keith Mackall (25) of Lusby was placed
under arrest and transported to the Calvert County Detention Center and charged
with CDS: Possession of Paraphernalia.
