SHERIFF'S OFFICE INCIDENT BRIEFINGS - MAY 2ND, 2018

During the week of April 23 – April 29, deputies of the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office responded to 1,336 calls for service throughout the community.

Burglary: 18-21161
On April 23, 2018 Deputy Ridgely responded to Sheridan Point Road, Prince Frederick for the report of a burglary. The victim stated that an unknown suspect(s) broke into the detached garage and stole two 65 Holly Carburetors. The value of stolen property is $1,500.

Burglary: 18-21847
On April 27, 2018 Deputy Ridgely responded to Sandy Point Road, Prince Frederick for the report of a burglary. The victim stated than an unknown suspect(s) attempted to break into the residence from a bedroom window. It was determined no items were stolen from the residence.

Theft: 18-22311
On April 29, 2018 Dfc. Kreps responded to Emmanuel Church Road, Huntingtown for the report of a theft. The victim stated that an unknown suspect(s) stole the registration plate from their trailer. The value of stolen property is $51.

Arrests:

On April 23, 2018 Dfc. Holt responded to the Weis, Solomons for a disturbance call. Upon arrival, Deputy Holt made contact with the suspect later identified as Kevin Thompson (28) of Lexington Park in the parking lot. It was determined that Thompson had two loaded handguns in the vehicle. Thompson was placed under arrest and transported to the Calvert County Detention Center and charged with Handgun on Person and Handgun in Vehicle.

On April 23, 2018 Dfc. D. Naughton responded to Sneade’s Ace Home Center, Lusby for the report of a theft. Deputy Naughton arrived on scene and obtained the description of the suspect and was informed two Dewalt Compact Drills had been stolen. The suspect was located in the store and identified as Richard Tucker (33) of California. Tucker was placed under arrest and transported to the Calvert County Detention Center where he was charged with Theft: $100 to under $1,500.

On April 26, 2018 Deputy Crum conducted a traffic stop in the area of the Route 2/4 split. Deputy Crum approached the vehicle to make contact with both occupants inside and could immediately smell a strong odor chemical emitting from the vehicle. While attempting to get identification from both subjects, they appeared to be disoriented and confused. Both subjects were asked to step out of the vehicle for a search to be conducted. The search resulted in narcotics. The driver later identified as Danielle Murphy (33) of Prince Frederick and the passenger Ryan Graves (39) of Prince Frederick. Both Murphy and Graves were placed under arrest and transported to the Calvert County Detention Center, where they were charged with CDS: Possession-Not Marijuana (PCP).

On April 27, 2018 Deputy Spalding conducted a traffic stop at the North Beach Town Hall. While making contact with the driver later identified as Jay Judy (23) of Crofton, Deputy Spalding could smell the odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicle. Judy was asked to step out of the vehicle for a search to be conducted. The search resulted in multiple baggies of marijuana. Judy was placed under arrest and transported to the Calvert County Detention Center where he was charged with CDS: Possession with Intent to Distribute.

On April 29, 2018 Deputy Sampson conducted a traffic stop in the area of S Solomons Island Road and Hallowing Point Road, Prince Frederick. While making contact with the driver later identified as Steven Moreland (24) of Edgewater, Deputy Sampson could smell the odor of burnt marijuana emitting from the vehicle. A search was conducted of Moreland and narcotics and paraphernalia were located. A search was also conducted of the passenger in the vehicle later identified as Madison Pignona (24) of Grasonville. The search resulted in narcotics and paraphernalia. Moreland was placed under arrest and transported to the Calvert County Detention Center and charged with CDS: Possession with Intent to Distribute, CDS: Possession-Not Marijuana (Alprazolam), and two counts of CDS: Possession of Paraphernalia. Pignona was placed under arrest and transported to the Calvert County Detention Center and charged with CDS: Possession-Not Marijuana (Alprazolam) and two counts of CDS: Possession of Paraphernalia.
