During the week of April 9 – April 15, deputies of the
Calvert County Sheriff’s Office responded to 1,351 calls for service throughout
the community.
Damaged Property: 18-18972
On April 12, 2018 Dfc.
Ostazeski responded to Susan Lane, Lusby for the report of damaged property.
The victim stated between 6:45 PM and 8:40 PM an unknown suspect spray painted
his screen door. The estimated value to repair the property is $25.
Theft: 18-18745
On April 11, 2018 Dfc.
Gott responded to Broomes Island Road, St Leonard for the report of damaged
property. The complainant stated that sometime between March 9th and
April 11th a lock box attached to a door knob on Double Oak Road,
Prince Frederick had been pried open and the key was taken. The estimated value
of damaged and stolen property is $102.
Theft: 18-18579
On April 11, 2018 Dfc.
Holt responded to Geronimo Road, Lusby for a report of a theft. The victim
advised he left his iPod touch in the bathroom of Lusby Giant around 10:30 AM.
At 11:00 AM he went back to the bathroom to retrieve the iPod and it was gone.
The iPod is valued at $600.

On April 15, 2018 Dfc.
Boerum responded to White Sands Drive, Lusby for the report of a theft. The
victim stated that between April 14th at 10 AM and April 15th
at 6:00 PM an unknown subject stole the rear tag from his vehicle.
Burglary: 18-18520
On April 10, 2018 Deputy
Bowlan responded to Mill Bridge Road, Lusby for the report of a burglary. The
victim advised between April 8th at 8:00 AM and April 10th
at 7:30 PM his ArmaLite Rifle was stolen from his shed. The value of the rifle
is $800.
Arrests:
On April 10, 2018 Deputy
Sampson conducted a traffic stop on Route 4 in front of the Radio Shack in
Prince Frederick. Deputy Sampson made contact with the driver, later identified
as Austin Cameron Darling (23), and
the passenger, Christine Marie Thurstin
(44), and immediately smelled the odor of burnt marijuana coming from the
vehicle. While searching the driver, Deputy Sampson found a sock with 3
syringes, a metal spoon, a cotton swab, and 1 plastic baggie, all with
suspected heroin residue. While searching the vehicle Deputy Sampson found 2
plastic baggies of suspected heroin, 3 syringes, 2 plastic baggies with a white
powdery residue and another plastic baggie with suspected heroin residue. A
search of Thurstin’s purse revealed a red cut straw with suspected heroin
residue. Darling and Thurstin were placed under arrest and transported to the
Calvert County Detention Center. Both subjects were charged with CDS:
Possession-Not Marijuana and CDS: Possession of Paraphernalia.

Ridgely made contact with a vehicle in the Applebee’s parking lot in Prince
Frederick occupied by a driver and one passenger, Jon Ryan Ogden (33). Corporal Wilson and his K9 partner conducted a
K9 scan of the vehicle that resulted in a positive alert. A search of the vehicle
was negative, however, a search of Ogden revealed a crushed up white pill and a
rolled up dollar bill with a white residue. Ogden was placed under arrest and
transported to the Calvert County Detention Center where he was charged with
CDS: Possession-Not Marijuana and CDS: Possession of Paraphernalia.

Lewis responded to the Citgo gas station on St Leonard Road for the report of a
suspicious person. He made contact with the driver, Matthew Preston Wahl (28), when Deputy Burgraff arrived on scene.
Deputy Burgraff and his K9 partner conducted a K9 scan on the vehicle, which
resulted in a positive alert. A search of the vehicle revealed heroin and a cut
straw lying next to it, as well as a large amount of cash throughout the vehicle.
Wahl was placed under arrest and transported to the Calvert County Detention
Center. Deputy Gott made contact with the original complainant who saw Wahl
rummaging through boxes at a home on Oak Road in St Leonard. Inside of Wahl’s
vehicle, numerous envelopes of cash were located that belonged to the resident
of the Oak Road address. Wahl was charged with CDS: Possession-Not Marijuana,
CDS: Possession of Paraphernalia, Burglary-First Degree, Theft: $100-Under
$1,500 and Trespassing on Private Property.

Flynt responded to a traffic stop in the area of Route 4 and Old Town Road in
Huntingtown. The driver, Kiersten Faye
Nutter (27), was asked to exit the vehicle and a K9 scan was conducted. The
K9 scan resulted in a positive alert. A search of the vehicle revealed a black
box with flakes and residue of marijuana and numerous prescription medication
bottles. A search of Nutter’s person revealed a fold of paper containing
marijuana. Nutter was placed under arrest and transported to the Calvert County
Detention Center. At the Detention Center a strip search resulted in 4 green
pills. Nutter was charged with CDS: Possession-Not Marijuana and Possession of
Contraband in a Place of Confinement.

On April 15,
2018 Cpl. Wilson conducted a traffic stop on Pawnee Lane, Lusby. Cpl. Wilson
made contact with the driver, identified as Ryley Daniel Weber (22), and immediately smelled the odor of
marijuana coming from the vehicle. After conducting a search of the vehicle,
Cpl. Wilson and Deputy Ridgely found marijuana and paraphernalia in the glove
box. Weber was placed under arrest and transported to the Calvert County
Detention Center where he was charged with CDS: Possession with Intent to
Distribute and CDS Distribution.

On April 15,
2018 Cpl. Moschetto was assisting with a traffic stop on Cox Road and East
Chesapeake Beach Road, Chesapeake Beach. During the stop, John Abner (54), showed up on the scene. Mr. Abner was
argumentative and he was advised to leave the scene. He refused to leave,
therefore, he was arrested for hindering the investigation. Mr. Abner was transported
to the Calvert County Detention Center and charged with Obstructing and
Hindering.
