During the past several weeks, the Calvert County Sheriff’s
Office has been receiving numerous complaints regarding phone solicitors attempting
to seek access to citizen’s computers and/or credit card information. The caller’s typically contact the citizen by
telephone advising them that their company has detected a “computer virus” on
their computer. The caller will attempt
to pressure the citizen into providing them with log in information or a credit
card number.
The Calvert County Sheriff’s Office is requesting citizens
to be cognizant of these types of scam artists and remind everyone how
important it is not to provide anyone with personal information, particularly information
pertaining to credit cards, bank accounts or passwords. Your personal information should not be
shared with anyone.
