During the week of November 9 through November 15 deputies of the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office responded to 1,260 calls for service throughout the community. 

Citizens with information on the following crimes or any criminal activity in Calvert County who wish to report it anonymously can now access the Calvert County Crime Solvers link through the Sheriff’s Office website.

Burglary Case# 15-61264:

On November 13 Deputy M. Velasquez was dispatched to a local business on Town Square Drive in Lusby for the report of a trespasser.  Eric Booker, 21, of Lusby was arrested for trespassing, theft and 4^th degree burglary.

Burglary Case #15-60614:

On November 9 Deputy N. Barger responded to a report of a burglary which took place between 5:50 am - 12:00 noon on Chestnut Drive in Lusby.  It was discovered someone had entered a home and removed an Xbox 1, controller, headset, PS 2, controller, multiple electronic games and a backpack.  Anyone with information is asked to contact the Sheriff’s Office.

Burglary Case #15-60582:

On November 9 Deputy J. Wahlgren responded to the report of a burglary of a home sometime between November 1 - November 7on Lowery Road in Huntingtown.  An unknown person damaged the rear windows of the home with rocks.  Anyone with information is asked to contact the Sheriff’s Office.

CDS Violation Case #15-60871:

On November 10, while on routine patrol, Deputy T. Mohler observed a vehicle traveling on Cox Road in Huntingtown in an unsafe manner.  He conducted a traffic stop and arrested Sara Bradburn, 19, of Huntingtown with driving while impaired, possession of a CDS (Percocet) and possession of CDS paraphernalia (glass pipe, metal grinder, straw).  She was transported to the Detention Center where she was subsequently served her charging documents.

Destruction of Property Case #15-61072:

On November 12 Deputy R. Wilson responded to the area of Shore Acres Way in Prince Frederick for the report of a destruction of property to a vehicle.  A strong odor of gasoline was noted, with several vehicles having the gas tanks punctured.  Due to no witnesses to the crime, anyone with information is asked to contact the Sheriff’s Office.

Fleeing and Eluding Case #15-60957:

On November 11, while on routine patrol in the Prince Frederick area, Deputy C. Idol attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle which fled the area.  The vehicle finally came to a stop on Chippingwood Drive, where it was discovered the driver, Dylan Reinoehl, 20, of Prince Frederick, was driving with a suspended license.  He was transported to the Detention Center and charged with fleeing and eluding, driving an uninsured vehicle and several other driving offenses.

Theft Case #15-61312:

On November 13 Deputy J. Denton responded to a victim in Lusby who had their wallet, driver license, social security cards and several credit cards stolen from their vehicle.  Due to the fact that the victim had been at multiple locations in Charles and Calvert County between November 3 - November 4, it is unclear exactly where the theft took place. 

Theft Case #15-61026:

On November 11, at 7:40 pm, Deputy B. Schaefer responded to the Dunkirk Walmart store for the report of a theft that had just occurred.  The male suspect concealed two (2) handheld massagers and fled the store.  There are no leads at this time.

Theft Case #15-60822:

On November 16 Deputy A. Curtin was dispatched to the Dunkirk CVS store on Ward Road for report of a destruction of property.  Christine Brown, 47, of Churchton, was arrested for destruction of property (opened packages), possession of a CDS (suboxone), possession of paraphernalia (straws) and for theft.  She was transported to the Detention Center for processing.

Theft Case #15-60640:

On November 9, Deputy C. Callison was dispatched to Primrose Lane, in Huntingtown, for the report of a theft from an unlocked vehicle.  The victim reported his wallet, driver’s license and prescription medications to be missing.  The theft took place between November 6 - November 9.

Theft Case #15-60607:

On November 9 Deputy N. Barger responded to a theft of road signs, which had been at the intersection of 509/Southbound Rt. 4 to the intersection of St. Leonard Road/Southbound Rt. 4.  An unknown suspect removed ten (10) signs:  “Use Caution”, “Stay in Lane” and “Grooved” sometime between November 5 - November 6.  Anyone with information pertaining to this theft is asked to contact the Sheriff’s Office.

DEPUTIES PARTICIPATE IN "NO SHAVE NOVEMBER" TO RAISE MONEY FOR CALVERT HOSPICE

In an effort to raise money for Calvert County Hospice, Sheriff Mike Evans and the Calvert County Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 109 are working together during “No Shave November.”  Sheriff Evans has advised his personnel he would relax the agency grooming standards from November 7^th through December 7^th.  In exchange for the standards being relaxed personnel wishing to participate will pay a $50.00 donation.  Things will be getting a little hairy around the Sheriff’s Office during the next month for those who have decided to give their razors a much needed rest.

Burglary Case #15-59237:

On November 2 Deputy B. Robinson responded to a report of tools that were stolen from a business under construction on Main Street in Prince Frederick.   The missing tools include 2 (two) Dewalt Miter Saws, 2 (two) Dewalt Chop Saws and a Panasonic Radio.    This burglary took place sometime between October 29 and the morning of November 2.

CDS Violation Case #15-59508:

On November 3, while Deputy C. Idol was investigating a possible burglary on Joanna Court in Prince Frederick, he observed paraphernalia (syringes, spoon) within the home.  He later arrested Emily Vallandingham, 22, of Prince Frederick for possession of these items.

On November 5 Deputy P. Mosely was dispatched to a home on Gregg Drive in Lusby for the report of a disorderly subject.  Chicago Garner, 21, of Lusby was placed under arrest for destruction of property and transported to the Detention Center for processing.

Destruction of Property Case #15-59331:

On November 2 Deputy M. Velasquez responded to Bandera Lane in Lusby for a report of rocks thrown through the window of a house and also a vehicle parked in the driveway.  The damage was caused around 6:40 pm on November 2.  Anyone with information regarding this crime is asked to contact the Sheriff’s Office.

Theft Case #15-60087:

On November 6 Deputy B. Robinson took a report of a theft from an unlocked vehicle on South Creek Court in Huntingtown.  A wallet, credit cards and license were taken between the hours of 7:00 pm on November 5 and 6:00 am on November 6.

   

Theft Case #15-60085:

On November 6, at approximately 2:30 pm, Deputy S. Rediker responded to a report of a theft of an IPhone 6, which took place while the victim left a restaurant in Prince Frederick. 

Theft Case #15-59915:

On November 5 Deputy J. Wahlgren was called to a home on Cayuse Circle, Lusby, for the discovery of missing jewelry.  Several rings had been taken from the home; it is believed the theft to have taken place on multiple occasions over the last several months.  At this time there are no suspects.

Theft Case #15-59914:

On November 5 Deputy N. Barger was called to Olympia Sports, located on West Dares Beach Road in Prince Frederick, for the report of a shoplifter who stole an item of clothing.   The investigation is continuing.

Theft Case #15-59771:

On November 4 Deputy B. Wood responded to the Sally Beauty Supply store in Prince Frederick for the report of a theft.  An unknown person cut open several packages and removed hair products.  The investigation is continuing.

Theft Case #15-59401:

On November 3 Deputy N. Buckler responded to a home on Joanna Court in Prince Frederick where a suspect, who had just committed a theft at the Prince Frederick Wawa, may have fled.  The investigation revealed Emily Vallandingham, 22, of Prince Frederick was responsible for the theft and was also found to be in possession of CDS-Not Marijuana (Alprazolam/Xanax).  She was ultimately charged and arrested for obstructing and hindering, theft and for the drug charges.

Theft Case #15-59285:

On November 2 Deputy B. Robinson took a report from a victim who reported that their  credit card was stolen and fraudulent transactions were made.  It is unclear where and when the card was actually taken.

Theft Case #15-59277:

On November 2 Deputy B. Robinson responded to a farm on Turner Road in Lusby for the report of a stolen deer camera.  The theft took place sometime between October 7 - October 14.  Anyone with information is asked to contact the Sheriff’s Office, as the investigation is continuing.

SHERIFF'S OFFICE WINS NATIONAL LAW ENFORCEMENT CHALLENGE AWARD!

The National Law Enforcement Challenge Highway Safety Awards Breakfast was held On October 27^th at the Sheraton Chicago Hotel and Towers.  The Calvert County Sheriff’s Office was recognized for being second in the nation for Highway Safety amongst Sheriff’s Offices nationwide having 21 to 250 sworn deputies.   The entry was submitted by Deputy First Class Mark Robshaw of the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office Community Action Team (CAT).  The Calvert County Sheriff’s Office won first place recognition in the state of Maryland for the entry.  The Sheriff’s Office received a $5000.00 award from the Maryland Highway Safety Office to be used for the purchase of traffic safety related equipment.

The National Law enforcement Challenge (NLEC) recognizes and awards excellent law enforcement traffic safety programs, focusing on impaired driving, occupant protection, and speeding.  The NLEC is supported through a cooperative agreement between the International Association of Chiefs of Police and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, working collaboratively with the National Sheriff’s Association, Governors Highway Safety Association, and the American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators.

Burglary Case #15-58179:

Deputy V. O’Donnell was dispatched to a burglary call on Paul Hance Road, Huntingtown, for the report of items stolen from a shed.  Sometime between October 23 - October 27, 2015, two (2) generators, two (2) weed eaters, a vehicle battery and a gas can were stolen.

On October 26 Deputy T. Holt responded to a home burglary which took place between 5:30 am - 4:30 pm on HG Trueman Road in Solomons.  The suspect(s) entered by breaking a window and removed several items of clothing.

On October 29 Deputy G. Gott conducted a traffic stop at South Solomons Island Road/German Chapel Road in Prince Frederick and observed Ann Chialastri (46) of Port Republic to be in possession of Adderall and Vyvanse.  She was transported to the Detention Center and released to correctional staff.

CDS Violation Case #15-58414

On October 28 Deputy G. Gott responded to the report of a suspicious vehicle at the 7-11 parking lot on Hallowing Point Road, Prince Frederick.  He observed Brandon Parker (27) of Lusby to be in possession of heroin, possession of controlled paraphernalia (syringe) and possession of paraphernalia (metal spoon).  He was arrested and released to correctional staff.

On October 29 Deputy W. Beisel responded to Old Bayside Road in Chesapeake Beach for the report of a damaged mailbox.  This incident took place between 7:00 pm on October 28 and 4:00 am on October 29.

On October 26 Deputy B. Schaefer responded to the report of vandalism to a vehicle that was parked in a parking lot on HG Trueman Road, Solomons.  The vehicle was keyed sometime between 8:00 am -10:00 am that morning.

Deputy P. Mosely was dispatched to Lake Drive and Pilot Way in Lusby for reports of vandalism to vehicles.  Several car windows had been shot out and shattered around 10:00 pm the evening of October 26.   Anyone with information is asked to contact the Sheriff’s Office.

Destruction of Property Case #15-58084

On October 27 Deputy D. Naughton responded to Chestnut Drive, Lusby for the report of vandalism to a vehicle.  During the early morning hours, a window had been shot out and a rear spoiler had been torn from the car.  Anyone with information is asked to contact the Sheriff’s Office.

Destruction of Property Case #15-58036

On October 26 Deputy R. Kreps responded to the report of an unknown object striking and shattering a vehicle window while the victim was travelling on Oakland Hall Road in Prince Frederick.  This incident took place late in the evening of October 26.

Destruction of Property Case #15-57940

On October 26 Deputy V. O’Donnell responded to the report of vandalism to a vehicle which took place on Shore Acres Way, Prince Frederick.  Between the afternoon hours of October 25 and the morning of October 26, the gas tank of the victim’s car had been punctured.

Motor Vehicle Theft Case #15-58434

On October 29 Deputy D. Clark was dispatched to Holland Cliffs Road, Huntingtown, for the report of a stolen vehicle.  The vehicle was found later the same day abandoned on Fairground Road in Prince Frederick.  It was discovered a gun was removed from the vehicle, which has not been located.  Anyone with information is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office.

Theft Case #15-58556

On October 29 Deputy C. Idol responded to 5^th Street, Chesapeake Beach, for the report of a stolen Mac Book Pro laptop from an unlocked vehicle.  This theft took place in the late night hours on October 28.

Deputy A. Woodford was dispatched to Ben Oak Drive, Huntingtown, for the report of welding cable that had been stolen off of a work truck between October 28 and October 29. 

Theft Case #15-58533

Deputy D. Clark responded to Fox Den Lane, Huntingtown, for a report of tampering and theft from an unlocked vehicle.  A purse was removed and later found discarded on the victim’s driveway along with the contents of the purse.  This took place between 9:00 pm on October 28 and 6:00 am on October 29. 

Theft Case #15-58175

On October 27 Deputy M. McCarroll responded to the Walmart store in Dunkirk for the report of a shoplifter in custody.  Joseph Fricia (27) of Sunderland, was detained for stealing clothing and a DVD movie.  He was transported to the Detention Center for processing and released on a Criminal Citation.  He was also issued a trespassing notice not to return to the Walmart store in Dunkirk.

Theft Case #15-58126

On October 27 Deputy M. McCarroll responded to the Walmart store in Dunkirk for a theft which took place at approximately 7:00 am that morning.  An unknown male loaded a Vizio TV into a vehicle and fled the parking lot.

Theft Case #15-57978

On October 27 Deputy M. McCarroll responded to the Walmart store in Dunkirk for the report of a shoplifter in custody.  Amy Kersnick (42) of Upper Marlboro was found to be in possession of stolen clothing, other general items and a controlled dangerous substance (Suboxone).  She was transported to the Detention Center and arrested for theft and CDS.
